Abstract Submission Procedure
All abstracts must be submitted by 10th July 2025 to abstract@icpconference.net. Due to limited presentation slots, the Technical Review Committee—comprising academicians and practitioners—will review submissions and determine acceptance as an oral presentation, workshop, or poster. Final decisions rest with the committee. Please note that will base their decisions on quality assessed through peer review, for relevance (aligned with one of the sub themes), originality and clarity. Abstracts presented/ published in other conferences or that do not pass the plagiarism test will not be eligible. For registration and more conference details, visit www.icpconference.net.
Submission guidelines
Interested participants should submit abstracts with a maximum of 350 words (the title should not exceed 15 words). The academic abstracts should include: the title, sub-theme/ track, description, rationale, theoretical framework, methodology and findings of their proposed presentation. The practice-based abstracts should include: title, description, innovative practices and evidence. The document should be in Times New Roman, Font size 12 and single-spaced. Abstracts MUST be submitted by 10th July, 2025. Selected authors will be contacted to submit their work for publication.
Conference Sub-Themes
- Climate Change and Humanitarian Crises in Africa: Implications for Child Protection Examining the nexus between climate change and escalating humanitarian situations in Africa—such as food insecurity, water scarcity, conflict over natural resources, and displacement—and their combined impact on the protection, rights, and well-being of children.
- Children and Young People’s Participation in Climate and Child Protection Efforts: Highlighting the role of children and youth in shaping responses to climate change and child protection, including advocacy, evidence generation, and decision-making.
- Promoting Localization: Community-Based Approaches to Strengthening Child Resilience in the Face of the Climate Crisis: This sub-theme explores how locally led initiatives, including those driven by community members, traditional leaders, and faith-based organizations, contribute to protecting children and building their resilience to the increasing risks posed by climate change.
- Child Protection and Safeguarding in the Education Sector During the Climate Change Crisis: Assessing the effects of climate change on children’s access to safe and inclusive education, and promoting safeguarding measures within schools and learning environments.
- Integrating Child Protection into Climate-Responsive Health and Nutrition Services: Investigating the impact of climate change on child health, nutrition, and mental well-being, and promoting integrated psychosocial support and safeguarding within health systems.
- Enhancing Legal and Policy Frameworks for Climate-Responsive Child Protection: Evaluating and strengthening laws, policies, and child justice systems to ensure they address the specific protection needs of children in the context of climate change.
- Sustainable Financing for Local Organizations Addressing Climate-Related Child Protection Risks: Exploring funding models that support locally led programs and organizations working to mitigate the impact of climate change on children’s rights and well-being.
NB: Papers may demonstrate impact, present evidence, and include elements of advocacy and capacity building related to children’s rights and well-being.
